HCMM’s Past Masters, Captain Malcolm W. Parrott and Captain John R. Freestone present a history of transiting from the Atlantic to the Pacific (and vice versa) from the very first crossing by a European, when the Spanish explorer, Balboa, gazed at the Pacific Ocean from the heights of Darien to today’s modern, large and shiny new Panama Canal.

Each month we are pleased to welcome lectures from our friends and colleagues. Ranging from Maritime History and Restoration through to the work of the RNLI and todays Shipbuilding Industry.” Please feel free to enjoy these stimulating talks at your leisure.

ABOUT HMS/WELLINGTON

HMS WELLINGTON began her successful career in the 1930s. Laid down in September 1933 at Devonport Dockyard, launched in May 1934, she entered service in January 1935. Her purpose was as an Imperial Patrol Sloop destined for the New Zealand Station. She was a Grimsby Class Sloop and displaced 990 tons with a cruising speed of 10 knots and a maximum speed of 16 knots.
